Solkadhi Recipe


Solkadhi is a type of drink, originating from the Indian subcontinent, usually eaten with rice or sometimes drunk after the meals. Popular in Goa and the Konkan region of India, it is made from coconut milk and kokum, also known as Aamsul.

Ingredients :

5-7 dried Kokum or Aamsul
1 Cup Coconut milk
1 Cup water
2 cloves Garlic or 1 tsp of ginger
A pinch of heeng
To taste Rock salt
For garnishing Coriander leaves


Recipe:

1. Soak the kokum in 1 cup water for 2 hours.
2. Add 1 cup thick coconut milk with garlic and ginger paste.
3. Discard the kokum from the water, add the coconut milk mixture into the kokum water, 
     add heeng and rock salt mix well to get a creamy pink coloured solkadhi.
4. It is important to let the Solkadhi rest for at least an hour before you consume it.
5. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve chilled.
