Aliv Ladoo Recipe
Aliv ladoo is a traditional Maharashtrian dessert made from iron and calcium-rich aliv seeds.
It is a winter delicacy and was specially made for young mothers. ladoos (sweet balls) are made from brown sugar (Jaggery), fresh coconut, dried fruit, and Garden cress seeds.
These ladoos are very nutritious and provide warmth to the body.
While they’re usually made for breastfeeding mothers, people of all ages can have these winter goodies.
Halim seeds are soaked in coconut water or milk for at least 1 hour before the ladoos are made.
- 100 gm aliv
- 1 cup of coconut water
- 3 cups of freshly grated coconut
- 1 cup of Jaggery
- 1/4 teaspoon nut Meg
- 1 tablespoon of chopped almonds
- 1 tablespoon of chopped cashew nuts
- Put Aliv in a bowl. Add the coconut water and mix well.
- Coconut water adds a pleasant taste to the ladoos.
- You can also use normal water.
- Cover and let it be for 2 hours.
- Heat a pan over medium heat.
- Add freshly grated coconut, moistened reliefs, jaggery, almonds, and cashews.
- If you don’t want to, you can skip the dried fruits.
- Stir well and cook over medium heat until everything is well incorporated, leaving the edges of the pan.
- The mixture will form after about 15 minutes of cooking.
- Turn off the gas and rub the nut in. Shake well.
- You can add cardamom powder.
- When the mixture has cooled a bit, roll the side.
- Don’t let the mixture cool completely or the ladoos won’t roll.
How to store aliv ladoo?
- This ladoo remain good at room temperature for about 4-5 days.
- These will remain good in an airtight container in the freeze for about 8-15 days.
How much to eat?
Start with 1 teaspoon/day and then you can take 1 teaspoon / 2 cups per day. You can chew for some time or you can swallow it directly.
